We received a grant to get us brand new keyboards. The keyboards did not come with stands or headphones, so I figured we would make it work by putting them on tables or the floor and turning the volume down. Because of your generosity, our students had the ability to practice like a pro. \r\n\r\nWe have an upcoming concert in which students will play the pianos, guitars, and ukuleles to a song their class chose. These items allowed pianos to be played for our concert, and gave students privacy in their headphones to make mistakes. They were so popular with the students, and many students would rush to these instruments every time we used them. Your impact cannot be overstated, especially in underfunded public schools. \r\n This is the first time our school has had a music program in over a decade, so there was much growth and opportunities waiting. Because of your generosity, we were able to feature a concert where students not just sang but had the opportunity to play as well. Some of the ways we used them was for exploring staff, learning the pentatonic scale, and creating soundscapes to portray stories. All of this would not be possible without these instruments. \r\n For next year, our district is adopting a new music curriculum. Xylophones are featured heavily in elementary school curriculums, so we are able to fully implement the curriculum for the students. Knowing these students not only had a great year of learning with these instruments, but will continue to learn and grow by using them is amazing.
