Our new rug for carpet time is wonderful. There is a spot on the carpet for each student, as there are 30 apples on this rug. I only have 20 students this year but in years past I have had 29. It makes it very simple to have 5 year olds sit on a specific spot. In kindergarten we are on the carpet a lot. We have morning meeting here, share stories, read stories and collaborate through out our learning adventure all day! It is a very important piece to our learning and I thank you! \r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new rug, they were so exited! They said it was beautiful and they loved it. I know they feel very grateful to have it within our classroom to use everyday. \r\n\r\nI plan to continue to use these wonderful things that were donated to our classroom. I use the slime and goodies for my treasure box and prizes and the end of the week. We have a PBIS system at our school that if you are \"Bison Strong\" you get a punch card and punches. Once you fill that up your card gets turned into the office and I let them pick from my treasure box. My students are so grateful and love everything that we have received. We started using the large microscopes right away. Students learned about how to use a microscope, and then they went to work looking at the included slides. They were amazed at what they could see! Another big hit was the mini-microscopes. We've used them in the classroom, looking at everyday objects such as a whiteboard eraser. They could really see all of the eraser's individual fibers. Our next step will be to take those outside to explore the outside world through a microscope. \r\n\r\nWe will be using the books soon. Our next unit is Earth Science, and the books about rocks and fossils will really be helpful as students have questions and want to know more. The geode kits are a surprise for the students. I'll use them as gifts for the kids. That way, every student will have the experience of cracking open a rock to see what's inside.","fullyFundedDate":1755727967313,"projectUrl":"project/invoking-curiosity-through-science/9583977/","projectTitle":"Invoking Curiosity Through Science","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Grovum","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10173469"},{"teacherId":10176834,"projectId":9595045,"letterContent":"The new classroom supplies have transformed the flow and structure of our day, allowing my students to engage in predictable routines and practice the essential behaviors needed in a preschool setting. With designated learning areas now clearly organized, my students—many of whom require strong visual supports—can navigate the classroom with confidence and independence. Tools such as the walking rope, sensory items, and visual learning supports have already played an important role in helping my preschoolers understand expectations and begin building self-regulation skills through our daily Social Emotional Learning activities.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the Brights 4Ever decorative materials and bulletin board displays, their faces lit up with excitement. The warm, colorful environment instantly made the room feel safe, inviting, and student-centered. Several students eagerly explored the new sensory tools, while others immediately gravitated toward the visual stations we created with the new materials. For my students with disabilities, these tools are not just helpful—they are essential in providing the accommodations they need to feel comfortable, supported, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our current projects in SEL and early academic skills, these resources will help us take the next steps toward building stronger emotional awareness, classroom independence, and cooperative play. The organized learning spaces and hands-on tools will support upcoming lessons where students practice identifying their feelings, using calming strategies, and working together in small groups. I am truly grateful for the generosity that made this project possible. Your support has created a foundation for meaningful growth, and it is already making a lasting difference for my PreK–learners at Second Creek Elementary School.","fullyFundedDate":1755371734513,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-learning-environment/9595045/","projectTitle":"Classroom Learning Environment","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. G.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10176834"},{"teacherId":4225485,"projectId":9578299,"letterContent":"My students and SPED team are extremely grateful for the resources we were able to obtain with your donations. The hands-on learning has been impactful for all of my students. I am seeing growth with their reading goals as a direct result of the materials. A favorite activity is the CVC word and sentence match. The textured dots under the sounds support my students in sounding out words and in knowing what sound is next in a word. \r\n\r\nOne student in particular has really benefited from the materials because they all have word cards or picture cards. He likes to hold and spin them while he works, supporting his sensory regulation. \r\n\r\nMy students started with the CVC activities, and are now ready to start the activities with the digraphs and blends. I teach two sections of fourth grade English Language Arts (reading and writing) and both sections have been reading on the rug every day. In fact, whenever we have independent reading, and students can choose to sit anywhere in the room, the rug is the most popular choice! It is such a soft place to lay and read a good book! It has really helped even my most emergent and hesitant readers start to engage in reading independently. Not only is the rug a popular place for reading, it has also taught students valuable life skills like ownership and responsibility. \r\n\r\nOn the first day with the rug, we talked about how to be responsible with this new classroom item. Students said that they should not have their water bottles on the rug, and that they should even be careful with their pencils and coloring materials. They have been extra cautious when working on the rug. Throughout the day I can hear them holding each other accountable, saying things like \"Be careful of your pencil, it almost poked the rug!\" \r\n\r\nThank you again for contributing to this project. We now have a calm-down corner with a soft rug where students can take a break and practice calming strategies. The yoga ball chair is a special reward that students can earn for showing kindness, responsibility, or focus during the day. The cozy cushions are also a favorite—they've made our reading and partner work time so much more comfortable and inviting.\r\n\r\nShare a specific classroom project or moment.\r\nOne special moment that stands out happened just last week. A student who was having a tough morning asked if they could use the calm-down corner. They quietly sat on the rug, used a breathing tool we'd practiced, and came back to group time with a smile. It was such a small moment—but such a powerful one. The space gave that child the chance to self-regulate and rejoin the class feeling proud and in control.\r\n\r\nHow did your students react when they first saw the materials?\r\nTheir eyes lit up! Several students ran over to the rug and said things like, \"It's so soft!\" and \"Can we really sit here when we need to calm down?\" When I introduced the yoga ball chair as something they could earn with positive behavior, it instantly became a motivator. They even started cheering for each other when someone got to use it!\r\n\r\nWhat are the next steps for your students on a current classroom lesson or project?\r\nAs we work on building our emotional regulation skills this year, the calm-down space will continue to play an important role. We're learning how to name our feelings, use breathing exercises, and support our classmates—and now we have the perfect environment to practice those skills.
