We began by observing seeds in the classroom as they sprouted, then worked together to plant them in our outdoor garden area. The students took turns watering the garden, pulling weeds, and observing the growth process. Along the way, we discovered many interesting insects and critters, which led us to extend our project to learn about the important roles of pill bugs and earthworms in maintaining a healthy garden ecosystem.\r\n\r\nThe excitement grew when our new gardening supplies arrived. Together, we explored the materials and discussed the variety of fruits and vegetables we could grow. Each student selected their preferred seeds, and as a class we voted on our top three choices—cucumbers, watermelons, and cherry tomatoes—which we successfully planted.\r\n\r\nWe are committed to continuing this hands-on learning experience. At the start of the school year, after harvesting some wonderful watermelons, we worked together to clear the garden by removing old plants and weeds. The students especially enjoyed using toy excavators and dump trucks to help prepare the soil, discovering even more pill bugs along the way. Our next step will be planting carrots and beets, and we are eager to observe their growth throughout the season.","fullyFundedDate":1744301724808,"projectUrl":"project/little-sprouts-big-dreams-a-preschool/9128627/","projectTitle":"Little Sprouts, Big Dreams: A Preschool Gardening Adventure","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Baker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9863282"},{"teacherId":5480409,"projectId":5560777,"letterContent":"This project had a significant impact on my students because it helped to foster a classroom environment that embraced cultural diversity and inclusivity through a variety of multicultural books.
