They are growing 3 generations: crossing plants from the first generation, then observing two generations of offspring. The test crosses help them to identify the inheritance patterns that match the traits they observe. \r\n\r\nThis project is extremely meaningful for students, as it helps them to observe first hand not only the inheritance pattern, but to conduct an inquiry and use science skills similar to what Mendel, himself, considered the father of genetics, did to open the box to understand the inheritance of traits passed from generation to generation. \r\n\r\nI am deeply grateful for your donation that is reaching so many students - 10 classes in all - hundreds of well-deserving students are learning key content and skills thanks to your help!","fullyFundedDate":1717798035133,"projectUrl":"project/urban-students-conduct-inquiry-genetics/8414008/","projectTitle":"Urban Students Conduct Inquiry Genetics Project Using Fast Plants","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Brand","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6851413_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1570993299037","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/drbrandscience"},{"teacherId":6851413,"projectId":8330497,"letterContent":"I am deeply grateful for your generous donation on behalf of my well-deserving students. The drumline's old sticks were at best chipped, and at worst held together with layers of tape. But during our competition season, we looked sharp and clean thanks to your support! \r\n\r\nOur drumline section practiced diligently during our marching season. As a section, they practice more often than the rest of the band, and rely on student leadership in their rehearsals. The drumline has their own competition category, which requires them to play a cadence set to choreography. The students collaborate to design their choreography, and practice for one extra day a week to ensure they are performance-ready. \r\n\r\nWith our new sticks, the drumline practiced with more confidence and were focused on their stick technique. Without having to worry about sticks breaking in the middle of practice, they spent more time rehearsing their choreography. Because of your generous donation, you made their rehearsals efficient and our performances clean and professional.","fullyFundedDate":1723999434273,"projectUrl":"project/drumline-supplies-for-richmond-high/8570901/","projectTitle":"Drumline Supplies for Richmond High","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Wilke","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp6025348_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1548719250748","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/richmondmusic"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_4199","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1341,"numTeachers":68,"percentFrplEligible":79,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":89,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"19.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":66.1,"schoolId":4199,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Richmond High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Richmond High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/west-contra-costa-unified-school-district/richmond-high-school/4199"}
