This rug has helped define this area of the classroom and students are feeling much more comfortable and joyful. We are using the new materials daily during our science and literacy blocks, especially as we explore topics like the solar system, ecosystems, and the water cycle. One memorable moment was when students used the materials to build simple models of the food web—seeing them confidently explain the role of producers, consumers, and decomposers showed a deep level of understanding that goes beyond textbooks.\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate. Many of them eagerly asked when they could start using them, and some even stayed extra time to explore. For my English learners, these resources have been especially powerful because they provide visual and hands-on support that helps them better understand vocabulary and concepts.\r\nMoving forward, we are continuing to build on this momentum by integrating these materials into group projects and writing activities. Students are currently working on explaining scientific concepts using both academic vocabulary and complete sentences, strengthening both their content knowledge and language skills. They sat together and enjoyed eating their food comfortably and also enjoyed talking with their peers for longer durations of time. This has excited and refueled the entire IEP team inside of the classroom. The puzzles have definitely been a hit in our classroom. I am thinking on how to use these materials in a more scientific way and incorporate them into our daily routine and activities where they are not just \"playing\" with them.
