When my students saw me open the boxes and take out the class sets of ten frame pop-its and the abacus they were so excited asking who they were for. I explained to them that generous individuals had supported a project I posted that would get the class math tools for them to use when solving addition and subtraction math problems. They wanted to use them right away. So we made a chart together on how they could use the tools and I model it for them. Then I designated a space in the classroom to store the tools where they could easily access them. And ever since they have been using the pop-its and abacus during our math time. I find it so gratifying to see them working on math independently and just get up from their desk to pick the tool they need to solve their math problems. Students earn a sticker daily for good behavior, when they have reached ten stickers they can pick an incentive from our treasure bin. The incentives encourage students to behave and be attentive during lessons in order to earn that sticker at the end of the school day to collect 10 stickers. \r\n\r\nWhen the resources and incentives arrived students were so excited watching me put them in the treasure bin. They right away became highly motivated to be on task, be engaged in my lessons and make good choices when working with their peers. \r\n\r\nYour donations helped get my students incentives to motivate them during classroom lessons. Another donors choose project I have coming up for them is a reading project, where I would like to get them engaging Spanish books so they learn to love reading. Because my project got funded my students and I received books that allowed me to teach them social and life skills. We must follow the rules and our gut. The book arrived at a perfect time because school had just begun and I was able to read the book to my students, we were able to have a discussion about it and did a coloring activity that went with the book regarding following the rules of the classroom and school.
