As I had hoped, they loved the story. We were able to dive deeper into the story because each student had their own copy. \r\n\r\nOne skill we practiced was a Double Entry Journal or \"talking back to the text\". The students selected passages that were meaningful to them, and responded to what they had read. They were able to connect it to something in their life, the world, our society, or even something in another book.
