With your donations, we were able to prepare 60 VAPA stoles for the students who earned them, allowing them to wear them upon graduation. On behalf of the VAPA team and I, thank you so much for helping our VAPA awards night to happen, so that we could award them with their stoles, cords, and certificates that nights.\r\n\r\nIn the haste of preparing for the evening, I was unable to take a group photo of our awardees, but please look forward to the upcoming photos of the students who wore their stole on graduation night. It was a beautiful evening, a picturesque graduation, with lots of smiles, happy tears, and proud, memorable moments.\r\n\r\nI appreciate your support for our students and the arts, and I'm so grateful to my friends and former students who sponsored our VAPA night and awards. Students are using the calming area daily to decompress between classes, practice mindfulness, and reset before returning to their academic work. One powerful moment came when a group of students who had just finished a difficult exam stopped by the center. After using the sensory tools and guided breathing resources, they expressed how much calmer and more focused they felt going back into their next class. For many of our students, having a safe space to pause during the school day has become a lifeline that helps them manage stress and stay engaged in their learning.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the center, their reactions were filled with excitement and relief. Many couldn't believe that a space on campus was designed just for their well-being, where they could feel safe and supported. Their gratitude has been clear in the way they take ownership of the space—keeping it welcoming for others and even suggesting new ways to use the resources during mindfulness lessons or counseling sessions.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are eager to integrate the wellness center more deeply into classroom projects and curriculum. Teachers are planning to use the space for small-group mindfulness workshops, and our counseling team is building lessons on stress management, coping strategies, and resilience. These next steps will ensure that the center not only supports students in the moment but also equips them with long-term skills for success both inside and outside the classroom. This project has really transformed my classroom into a place students can feel comfortable and relax as well as work more efficiently. The rug has allowed me to create a large space in the room with fun chairs that students can hang out and work together in groups or just chill. The electrical outlets have been amazing! Each desk now has an outlet on it so students can plug in and charge their laptops, phones and any other devices they need charged.
