Because of your kindness, my students now have access to a wide variety of engaging, high-interest books that meet their diverse learning needs. These new texts have allowed me to introduce and strengthen essential literacy skills such as decoding, fluency, vocabulary development, and reading comprehension. We are also working on making connections, asking and answering questions, and building confidence as independent readers, skills that are critical for both academic success and everyday life.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom has become a more interactive and joyful experience. Students participate in guided reading groups, partner reading, and independent exploration, where they can choose books that truly interest them. This choice has been incredibly empowering. Many of my students, who once felt discouraged by reading, are now eager to pick up a book and share what they've learned. The classroom environment has shifted to one where reading is not only instructional but also meaningful and enjoyable.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have especially benefited from these new books. For example, one student who previously struggled to stay engaged during reading time now eagerly participates and even asks to take books home to continue reading. Another student has gained confidence in reading aloud and proudly shares stories with peers. These moments are a direct result of your generosity. Thank you for helping create a classroom where every student can see themselves as a reader and experience success.","fullyFundedDate":1766006681058,"projectUrl":"project/building-a-special-education-classroom-l/9713034/","projectTitle":"Building a Special Education Classroom Library","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nelson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10260326_orig.png?crop=913,913,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1773722878267","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10260326"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_55080","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":254,"numTeachers":17,"percentFrplEligible":35,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":15,"percentWhite":31,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":32,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"14.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":50.0,"schoolId":55080,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Fort Irwin Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Fort Irwin Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/silver-valley-unified-school-district/ft-irwin-middle-school/55080"}
