This type of targeted practice is essential for early readers, as it gives them the opportunity to apply their skills independently and experience the pride that comes with successfully reading a book on their own.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, we spend a great deal of time working on phonics, blending sounds, and building fluency. This helps strengthen their decoding abilities and builds lasting reading confidence. Already, I have seen the excitement on my students' faces when they realize they can read an entire book by themselves. The new books also allow me to better support students at different reading levels, giving each child meaningful opportunities to practice, grow, and experience success during our small group reading time.\r\n\r\nBeyond improving their reading skills, these books also help build a love of reading in our classroom.
