They are required to take multiple tests at the beginning of the year using these devices. Our old, ratty headphone barely worked. The ear pads were falling off, the connection was poor, and they have no microphones. Our new replacement headphones work smoothly and allow the students to record their own voices reading! Not only are students more comfortable on the Chromebooks, but they can get immediate feedback on their reading. \r\n\r\nOur students are thrilled to use this new technology. They feel like big kids! Some of the students have a tablet at home, but this technology is new to them. Since they will need to have mastery of the Chromebooks by third grade for statewide testing, it's really helpful to start them off with the best, more valuable experience possible. The large writing spaces will encourage students to take risks, revise their work, and learn from one another. I am excited to use these whiteboards to create a more active and engaging learning environment where mathematical thinking is visible.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who are often hesitant to participate during whole-group lessons are likely to benefit from working at the whiteboards with their peers. The collaborative nature of these activities will help build confidence and encourage students to share their ideas. \r\n\r\nThe technology purchased through this project will help students learn in meaningful and engaging ways. In today's classroom, technology is much more than a replacement for paper-and-pencil activities. The digital resources I purchased with the TPT gift cards allow students to practice and review important math concepts through interactive activities that keep them actively involved in their learning. Many of the activities incorporate games, challenges, and student choice, which increases motivation and encourages students to spend more time thinking about mathematics. Technology also allows me to provide differentiated learning opportunities, so students can work on activities that meet their individual needs.
