I never expected to receive such generous donations so quickly. Within a few weeks, items began arriving! My students had a lot of questions about the purpose of the new materials and how we got them. I explained to them that all the bins and baskets were to help organize the book area so it would be easier to find something they wanted to read. \r\n\r\nMost children seemed to think this was a good idea; as one 1st-grade girl commented, \"It is pretty messy!\" Some of the older girls, 3rd and 4th graders, asked if they could begin organizing some chapter books immediately, which I was more than happy to allow. A few of them continued to be entirely invested in the activity and greatly assisted me in the book area project. \r\n\r\nEven the children who rarely go to the book area got curious about the soft, washable area rug once it arrived. It served as a clever way to entice some children into exploring the book area, even if they weren't interested in looking at books. Many children were delighted with the smooth, soft feel of the rug's pile; they enjoyed some sensory experiences with the rug that I hadn't anticipated, including making \"carpet angels\" and rolling on it! \r\n\r\nMy students and I are so very grateful for your generous donations. Thanks to your thoughtful efforts, we can enjoy a lovely, comfy, and well-organized book area.","fullyFundedDate":1733331610597,"projectUrl":"project/organize-it-and-they-will-come-and-rea/8968049/","projectTitle":"Organize It and They Will Come - and Read","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lorraine","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7616125_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1629382427182","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7616125"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_32922","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":425,"numTeachers":16,"percentFrplEligible":52,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":65,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":23,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"26.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":87.2,"schoolId":32922,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Oakview Community Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Oakview Community Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-juan-unified-school-district/oakview-community-school/32922"}
