While it was a farfetched request, this campaign was my attempt at a one-time request for material throughout the year! The mason jars have been a game-changer when it comes to hands-on experiments. The clear glass allows my students to see exactly what's happening in their experiments, whether observing plants' growth or testing the effects of different liquids. One of the most memorable activities was when they created \"lava lamps\" with oil and water. The mason jars were perfect for that project because the students could clearly see how the different liquids interacted. Plus, the jars made it easy to store their experiments for days, allowing them to track changes over time.\r\nHighlighters have helped my students stay organized and focused, especially during data collection and when documenting their findings. As they worked through the scientific method, they used different colors to highlight various parts of their science notes. The highlighters turned lab reports from a tedious task into something more interactive, and they even got a bit creative with color-coding their notes!\r\nLastly, the simple spoons have been surprisingly useful, particularly for experiments that require precision in measurements and mixing. For example, when we did a density experiment, the students used spoons to carefully add different substances to water and mix them. The spoons helped them measure out small amounts of materials without making a mess. \r\nOverall, these items you've donated have made science experiments more hands-on and interactive for my students. They not only made the experiments easier to manage but also helped the students feel more confident in conducting and recording their findings.","fullyFundedDate":1733643901994,"projectUrl":"project/experiment-like-a-scientist/8926349/","projectTitle":"Experiment Like a Scientist","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Chen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4762527_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1683398966255","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/tchen315"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_4460","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":248,"numTeachers":12,"percentFrplEligible":67,"percentAsian":73,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":9,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":6,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"20.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":87.3,"schoolId":4460,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Sutro Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Sutro Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-francisco-unified-school-district/sutro-elementary-school/4460"}
