During dramatic play, students practice sharing, taking turns, solving problems, communicating their ideas, and working together. It is also an especially valuable opportunity for our English language learners to build vocabulary and practice using English naturally with their classmates.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue introducing new vocabulary, roles, and real life scenarios into our dramatic play center. As students become more comfortable with our classroom routines, they will take on more responsibility for planning their play, communicating with one another, cleaning up materials, and solving problems independently. I used it to purchase a full year's worth of math task cards, which honestly saved me so much time from having to create materials myself. With the help of a parent volunteer, we laminated, cut, and organized everything into labeled boxes, so it's all really easy to use and keep track of. Each week, I introduce a couple of boxes that match the unit we're working on, and the students genuinely look forward to the task card center, it's become one of their favorite parts of the week.\r\n\r\nWhat I love most is how flexible these task cards are. They're not just a grab-and-go activity, I've turned them into scavenger hunts where students walk around the room with clipboards solving problems, which gets them moving and talking about math. I've also used them as review games, and it makes practice feel a lot more fun and engaging. It's been so beneficial overall. I'm hoping to build on this by creating another set for 2nd grade to support fluency and beginning-of-year review, and a 3rd-grade set to challenge my advanced students and give them a fun introduction to new concepts.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for your generous donation and for supporting both my project and my students!","fullyFundedDate":1772388776717,"projectUrl":"project/differentiated-engaging-math-centers-f/10111037/","projectTitle":"Differentiated & Engaging Math Centers for All Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Chan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2591123_orig.jpg?crop=2320,2320,x0,y139&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1628663978400","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/chant5"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_4451","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":264,"numTeachers":11,"percentFrplEligible":82,"percentAsian":20,"percentBlack":11,"percentWhite":28,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":27,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":10,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"24.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":83.4,"schoolId":4451,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Redding Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Redding Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-francisco-unified-school-district/redding-elementary-school/4451"}
