This is the perfect time to get students excited and interested in STEM. They are so curious and it is not often we see students have such great curiosity in Science. \r\n\r\nWe are currently building a Snap Circuit Wall and making circuits available for our students so that they can build whenever they have time. Our classroom has transformed into a STEM classroom because of your generous donation. Some students will also borrow a kit to work on over the weekend. Some students spend their lunch time in my class building a new machine. So much joy and active learning is happening in my classroom because of these Snap Circuits. Students loved the writing games. They used the games to write collaborative stories with each other. They also use the writing and reading comprehension cubes to work with my volunteer. We designed and drew maps that inspired new story ideas. Students researched and learned about different topics. Then they created zines about protecting the planet. \r\n\r\nStudents also wrote poetry and created a book. They shared their zines and poetry books with other classes. Then they took what they had learned to a climate action youth summit. They were so excited to share what they had learned with the world. At our school, we host a STEM learning fair. Students have an opportunity to build, create, and explore together. In the library, I like to prepare the students for the STEM fair by introducing them to building and engineering activities throughout the year. It is exciting to see their creations and they often want to share the work that they did with others. This is where the Click and Stick Camera comes in. \r\n Students are able to build whatever they imagine and then I can take an instant photo to stick to our library door. This allows students throughout the school to be inspired by the work of kids in other classrooms. This helps connect our school community and instills a sense of pride in kids who see their work displayed. The kids try to replicate and improve upon projects they see on the walls and this inspires even cooler projects. \r\n We have a number of students who want to be the photographer. I allow them to \"apply for the job\" by taking a couple of photos using the iPad and then selecting the kid who took the best image to take one using our new click and stick camera to add to our growing collection. Because it is a binder with 3 rings, I can continue to easily add more anchor charts as my students learn new concepts.\r\nThe binder also comes with a pencil bag filled with all the necessary tools my students need to complete their homework assignments. It helps my students develop organizational skills by keeping their homework tools in one place and their assignments safe and organized. Students take the binder home after school and bring it back the next day.\r\nBecause this binder houses student anchor charts, homework assignments, parent notes, and returned work, it becomes a tremendous resource for both students and families.
