My students love to play games where everyone is the winner. They brainstormed different things that they could do with a partner during P.E. time so that everyone is the winner, and no one is the loser. The students felt that games that were too competitive hurt some students’ feelings. The students came up with some activities that they wanted to do. Students said they wanted to participate in partner activities, working on different games to help each other improve. One of the games they wanted to participate in was the scooper game where partners would throw a ball to each other and catch it with a plastic scoop. Every time a ball is caught in the scoop, the team (consisting of both partners) receives a point. Another game they came up with is throwing balls at a target – rubber penguins. Each pair would throw balls at a rubber penguin, trying to knock it down. As long as the penguin is knocked down, the entire partnership team receives a point and both partners are winners. Another game they wanted to do was fly discs to their partners. When one partner catches the flying disc, thrown by the other partner, the team receives a point. No individuals score points in these games, only teams score points. All teams and players are winners! They decided that the focus of the games is to have fun while helping each other improve their skills. With your generous donations, these students will be thoroughly engaged in many physical activities that will get them moving for at least 60 minutes each day! Students will be learning lifelong, valuable lessons in building strong, healthy bodies.
