Thanks to ALL of your kindness, generosity, and caring donors.\r\n\"Reading is Fun\" is a big hit with all my students, they love to take turns reading inside the beautiful and cozy canopy. This reading corner is used by the students for daily reading, working on their classroom assignments, and even as a calm down area. It's refreshing to see how the students collaborate to take turns to use the \"Reading is Fun\" corner, and to be fully engaged in their learning. Kids love being inside their beautiful and cozy canopy and their animal bean bags.\r\nThis experience of independence, self-motivation, responsibility, and learning how to take turns has been enhanced by their \"\"Reading is Fun\" inviting reading corner. I will continue to use this \"Reading is Fun\" activity for years to come with my future students as well. My students read about 10 books each, for a total of 270 books that spotlighted black voices and black characters. \r\n\r\nAside from the challenge, a handful of my students were able to make connections and saw themselves in the books we received. They shared that they learned many life lessons, like, beauty comes from within, you shouldn't treat people differently because they look different, and how anything is possible by any walk of life. They were absolutely thrilled! We have been using the pinneys and the cones for almost every game that we play for our additional PE minutes. It makes it SO much easier to know who is on which team with the different color pinney shirts. Now, when we play Capture the Flag, they know exactly who to try to tag. :)\r\nThe ball pump has been a huge time (and energy) saver. We don't have to go searching around campus to find the PE teacher every time we need a ball pumped up. Also, since we have flexible seating in our classroom, which include items that need to be occasionally blown up, the electric pump makes this task much more efficient. \r\nI am so grateful to all the donors who are generous enough to support our classrooms. We are getting ready to start our biggest project of the year, and now they can showcase their work in the best way possible.
