These materials have made a meaningful impact in my 3rd-grade Spanish immersion classroom, where students are officially learning English Language Arts for the first time while continuing to grow as writers in Spanish. The supplies allowed my students to express their ideas through both art and writing, building confidence as bilingual authors and artists.\r\n\r\nUsing cardstock and carefully trimmed paper, students created self-portraits inspired by author-illustrator Ellen Stoll Walsh. The paper cutter made preparation and student work much easier and more precise. We also explored winter-inspired art and writing. Even though we live in a city that does not experience snow, students joyfully designed their own snowmen and then wrote instructional pieces in English explaining how to build a snowman. For another project, students used a different shades of green markers to design Christmas trees decorated with ornaments inspired by Kandinsky's concentric circles. After returning from winter break, they wrote personal narrative essays in Spanish about their winter experiences, further strengthening their bilingual writing skills across genres.\r\n\r\nI am excited to share photos of both the students' projects and all the materials you made possible. My students truly love writing in both Spanish and English, especially when they can combine it with art inspired by famous artists. Your generosity has inspired creativity, engagement, and a love for learning in our classroom. Thank you for supporting our students and helping nurture future writers and artists.","fullyFundedDate":1759415839788,"projectUrl":"project/inspiring-creativity/9673053/","projectTitle":"Inspiring Creativity","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Leon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5972978_orig.png?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1600726238381","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5972978"},{"teacherId":9836034,"projectId":8942529,"letterContent":"\"Reading is Fun\"\r\nThank you so much for providing my students with the beautiful, practical, and welcoming \"Reading is Fun\" corner, in our classroom. Thanks to ALL of your kindness, generosity, and caring donors.\r\n\"Reading is Fun\" is a big hit with all my students, they love to take turns reading inside the beautiful and cozy canopy. This reading corner is used by the students for daily reading, working on their classroom assignments, and even as a calm down area. It's refreshing to see how the students collaborate to take turns to use the \"Reading is Fun\" corner, and to be fully engaged in their learning. Kids love being inside their beautiful and cozy canopy and their animal bean bags.\r\nThis experience of independence, self-motivation, responsibility, and learning how to take turns has been enhanced by their \"\"Reading is Fun\" inviting reading corner. I will continue to use this \"Reading is Fun\" activity for years to come with my future students as well. We appreciate all that you have done to make this dream reading corner come true, my students and I are very grateful and thankful to you for making this come true.","fullyFundedDate":1733196298633,"projectUrl":"project/reading-is-fun/8942529/","projectTitle":"Reading is FUN!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cheatham","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9836034"},{"teacherId":4887705,"projectId":8931293,"letterContent":"This month and every month we celebrate Black History. They shared that they learned many life lessons, like, beauty comes from within, you shouldn't treat people differently because they look different, and how anything is possible by any walk of life.
