My students learn history in a dynamic, hands-on environment, while also learning a second language in a one-way Spanish immersion program. Students frequently sing, create art, and analyze artifacts and primary source documents to gain a deeper understanding of history, and then act it out for their peers. This helps them understand the information better as they take ownership of their learning. Content is presented in a variety of means to meet different learning styles. Students in my classroom are challenged to meet high expectations and very often express that history is their favorite class, even if it is sometimes difficult learning in their second language. I respect my students as individuals with varied strengths and needs, and endeavor to meet those needs in every way possible.
