Just as importantly, students will learn how to participate in meaningful conversations about books. They will listen to one another's ideas, ask questions, share their thinking, and sometimes discover that a classmate interpreted a story in a completely different way. These are skills that help students grow not only as readers, but also as thoughtful and confident communicators.\r\n\r\nHaving multiple copies of a variety of titles gives my students something especially valuable: choice. Students have different interests, reading abilities, and life experiences, and these books will allow them to find stories that truly connect with them. Your gift has completely transformed how my students interact with technology.\r\n\r\nMany people are used to technology at home as something we consume, like streaming videos, playing games, or scrolling on a phone. In our classroom, these micro:bits turn technology into something students create. Instead of sitting passively in front of a screen, physical computing allows students to write code on a computer and watch it immediately interact with the physical world. It bridges the gap between abstract math and real-world logic. When students write a line of code, a physical light turns on, a temperature sensor measures the room, or an alarm sounds. It makes learning tangible, interactive, and deeply rewarding.\r\n\r\nThe feature that has excited my students the most is the built-in radio signal and LED screen animations. There is magic in the room when a student writes a program, hits \"download,\" and watches their custom pixel art light up in the palm of their hand. But when they realized they could use radio signals to send wireless \"telegrams\" and code from one micro:bit to another across the room? The energy was electric. After teaching the students the safety features of the drone, they were ready to blast off. Students worked in small teams to calculate the flight window required for a drone to clear an obstacle. Seeing the immediate result, watching their drone either successfully navigate the path or requiring a quick adjustment, has turned \"trial and error\" into a thrilling game of logic.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next steps involve a mission. Students will be tasked with programming their drones to navigate a miniature model of a city, using sensors to avoid buildings and deliver simulated supplies. They can't wait to grab the tweezers and magnifying glasses and start dissecting the pellets, identifying tiny bones and reconstructing skeletons to uncover the mysteries of the food web. \r\n\r\nAfter our discoveries, we will take the learning a step further by using air-dry clay to create new species inspired by what we found. Students will design and mold creatures adapted to different ecosystems, blending science with creativity in a way that made learning truly come alive.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll be integrating our findings into ecosystem models, illustrating how energy flows through the food web.
