Students shared about favorite parts of their cultures and then learned about our featured artist, Frida Kahlo. We admired her perseverance through several challenges in her lifetime along with her confidence and pride in herself and her heritage with her self portraits. \r\nStudents are now creating their own portraits of Frida, highlighting her infamous flower headpieces with bright colors and texture. The hand sanitizer comes in handy every time we head out for brunch and lunch, and the fidgets like the chair bands and noise-canceling headphones have been so helpful for keeping students focused and on task. We also use dry-erase markers all the time for our math games, and erasers are a must as students work through their mistakes.\r\n\r\nI especially appreciate the magnetic tiles because they make it easy to display vocabulary words on the board without having to staple anything, and I can reuse them year after year. My students are also more motivated to earn their table points when they know they're working toward classroom prizes especially the scented playdough and stress balls, which they love.\r\n\r\nWe're also getting ready for field trips this month, and the clear name tags with lanyards have been really helpful in keeping students safe and easy to spot for both me and the chaperones. Our students and classroom have truly benefited from your support.\r\n\r\nIn our school district, we use a program called i-Ready, a personalized math and reading program that provides students with customized digital lessons. Kindergarten students are expected to spend up to 40 minutes per week working on these lessons, which means we are frequently transitioning back and forth with our iPads throughout the week.\r\n\r\nThe charging cart has made these transitions significantly smoother. Picking up iPads, logging on and off, and returning them to charge is now much more efficient and organized. The cart has also helped my students become more responsible and independent in retrieving, using, and properly charging their devices.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, students feel a stronger sense of ownership over their classroom and supplies by using the charging station. We have even turned it into a classroom job, with a student manager helping oversee that iPads are plugged in correctly and assisting classmates when needed.
