The musical instruments, including the egg shakers, maracas, wrist bells, tambourines, and piano floor mat, have become a favorite part of our daily routines. Many of my students learn best through movement and sensory experiences, so we have incorporated these materials into literacy, math, and communication activities. For example, during phonics lessons, students use the egg shakers and maracas to tap out syllables and letter sounds while practicing CVC words. We also use the piano mat during whole-group activities, where students step on different keys to identify letters, numbers, colors, or answer questions. One of my favorite moments was watching a student who is typically hesitant to participate eagerly join a music and movement activity using the tambourines and wrist bells. The excitement and engagement these materials have brought to our classroom have been incredible.\r\n\r\nThe Pete the Cat Phonics books have also become a valuable resource during small-group reading instruction. Students enjoy reading the familiar and engaging stories while practicing short and long vowel sounds. Many of my students were excited to see books featuring a character they recognized, which immediately increased their interest in reading activities. The fidget spinners have been especially helpful for students who benefit from sensory supports and movement breaks. By providing appropriate sensory tools, students have been better able to focus during lessons, regulate their emotions, and remain engaged in learning activities.\r\n\r\nThe snacks, including Goldfish crackers, animal crackers, Teddy Grahams, fruit snacks, cookies, and Rice Krispies Treats, have supported our classroom reward system and helped motivate students as they work toward their goals. Students were thrilled when they first saw the snacks and viewed them as a special reward for their hard work and positive behavior. Moving forward, we will continue using these resources to support literacy development, communication skills, social interactions, and sensory learning experiences. We are excited to incorporate the musical instruments into upcoming lessons focused on rhythm, following directions, turn-taking, and self-expression while continuing to use the phonics books to build foundational reading skills. Your kindness has provided meaningful learning opportunities that our students will benefit from every day, and we are so grateful for your support and belief in their success.","fullyFundedDate":1772505928607,"projectUrl":"project/we-can-all-learn/10084408/","projectTitle":"We Can All Learn","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ruiz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9739322_orig.jpg?crop=1242,1242,x0,y360&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754356396544","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9739322"},{"teacherId":3349721,"projectId":8465560,"letterContent":"The introduction of manga has completely transformed our classroom dynamic. My hardworking students, who once felt intimidated by dense blocks of text, are now diving headfirst into these stories, using the vibrant illustrations to decode complex dialogue with ease. Because they are naturally competitive, a 'reading race' has broken out to see who can finish the next volume first, turning literacy into a high-energy challenge. Even my most hesitant readers are now motivated to stay after class just to discuss a plot twist or a funny character moment. These books have done more than just teach vocabulary; they've built a bridge between their personal interests and their language goals, fostering a helpful environment where students are constantly leaning over to explain a new phrase or a cool drawing to a peer.
