With this generous donation, students were able to participate in a 3D printing and CAD workshop where they learned what 3D printing is, how it can be applied in real-life situations, and how to create their own designs using Onshape.\r\n\r\nWith the USB converter, I was finally able to upload STL files and print student-created CAD designs. During the workshop, I taught students how to design custom name tags and use basic design tools in Onshape.\r\n\r\nStudents also enjoyed the snacks during the workshop, which helped create an engaging and positive learning environment. Beyond the workshop, we have been having a lot of fun sourcing online models, slicing them, and printing them for various applications. When we are working through intense research or calculations in Biology class, students' eyes will sometimes begin to glaze over or worse, students will sometimes fall asleep at their desks! \r\n\r\nThat is when I know to call out \"Brain Break\" and we all head out the back door with the bin of activities. We have only used them a couple of times, so far. But, the response was great. All of the students were engaged and were especially interested in the hacky sacks and rolling the giant dice for exercise.
