The needs of students and teachers have changed dramatically every single year and every single year the generous donors from DonorsChoose have been there to help us out.\r\nOne of the most glaring changes facing our students today has been the need for explicit self-regulation instruction. For whatever reason, more and more children are entering the school environment without these skills fully in play. Because of this, educators are learning more about how to help and teach children social emotional skills that will help them reach the ultimate goal: Be regulated and ready to learn. \r\nThank you, Donors, for your generous donations to provide more tools to our self-calming area of our classroom so that kids who need it can access it and get right back into their optimal learning zone. When I introduced each of them the students were overjoyed. Everything gets played with everyday. I was given a kitchen for my classroom but no food, so having the pretend food was perfect! The students love playing in the kitchen.\r\n\r\nWe also did a fun activity with our Spots book and the different spot characters. Teaching social/emotional skills is essential in TK. This was a great way to demonstrate different emotions. They love pulling out the book themselves and looking through it. \r\n\r\nIt has brought such joy to my heart to see my classroom filled because of your gratitude.
