The fact that we have an activity planned for the end of the school year is awesome. My students are also enjoying the large tub of glue they can use for their final projects and for making slime. The slime helps students relax before finals. The glue guns and glue sticks will be used for their world history projects, where they create a diorama of World War I. The students will hot glue the military figurines to the trenches and military posts. The project gives students the resources they need, so families don't have to purchase glue guns. The students were overjoyed to learn that the new crafting materials were donated. \r\nThe next step for students is to describe at least five ways they can decompress when stressed. One of the ways should be crafting: 1) hot-glue fake flowers to a homemade wreath, 2) decoupage real flowers or a beautiful napkin to a glass votive, 3) create and design canvas bags to give as a gift, 4) learn to crochet a cute animal, 5) make slime. Students will present their crafting ideas in a slideshow presentation. I want students to reflect and take with them an understanding that there are many ways to handle stress. Also, crafting is fun!","fullyFundedDate":1776364145625,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-teens-through-creative-crafti/9956586/","projectTitle":"Empowering Teens Through Creative Crafting!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Thomas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6218398_orig.jpg?crop=1008,1008,x0,y520&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1766015598721","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6218398"},{"teacherId":10349249,"projectId":9892994,"letterContent":"When my students first saw the new Scrapbooking Club materials, they immediately gravitated toward the table and started exploring. The washi tape, glitter pens, and organized cardstock quickly became favorites, and several students commented on how much easier it was to find what they needed. One of the biggest changes has been the paper organizer! Having everything color-coordinated and accessible has made the space feel more inviting and has allowed students to jump right into creating without hesitation.\r\n We have been using these materials during club meetings for journaling and scrapbooking projects, where students create personal pages that reflect their interests, memories, and goals. I've seen students who are usually quiet in class open up more in this space, sharing their work and collaborating with others. The addition of journals and pens has also allowed students to begin building their own personal collections, which has increased their sense of ownership and pride in their work.\r\n Looking ahead, we are exploring ways to extend this project beyond the club. One idea we are considering is creating small \"starter kits\" with journals and supplies for students who may not have access to these materials at home, or potentially using them for a small fundraiser. No matter the direction we take, these resources have already helped create a more engaging, creative, and welcoming environment for my students. Thank you for making that possible.","fullyFundedDate":1769178109397,"projectUrl":"project/scrapbooking-studio-tools-for-creativit/9892994/","projectTitle":"Scrapbooking Studio: Tools for Creativity and Order","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Webster","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10349249_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1770019072959","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10349249"},{"teacherId":8726344,"projectId":9946255,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous contributions. Many of my students have specific learning disabilities, so books like graphic novels support their level of reading. The book relating to recipes, such as Ramen, helps students become engaged with reading. Due to many students' obsession with cell phones, it is crucial to help them get hooked on books instead. Books with poetic language and artwork, like \"ain't burned all the bright,\" by Jason Reynolds and artwork by Jason Griffin, grab the attention of students with attention deficit disorder. \r\n\r\nReading in my classroom looks like students choosing a book to read for the first 20 minutes of class. Students must have a book in hand, no digital formatting allowed, so they can feel the pages and enjoy the silence that reading silently offers. Books written by authors like Raquel Vasquez Gilliland show students from Latinx backgrounds that their culture is represented in literature. There are a few female students in particular who are enjoying this book about immigration, first love, and the realities of racism.","fullyFundedDate":1744320139307,"projectUrl":"project/latinx-scholars-books-to-inspire-learni/9237354/","projectTitle":"Latinx Scholars: Books to Inspire Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Thomas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6218398_orig.jpg?crop=1008,1008,x0,y520&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1766015598721","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6218398"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_29480","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":450,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":78,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":86,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":1,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":73.1,"schoolId":29480,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Roseland University Preparatory Charter School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Roseland University Preparatory Charter School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/roseland-school-district/roseland-university-prep-cs/29480"}
