These simple knitting materials of needles and yarn will allow my students to learn this relaxing skill. Materials will bring each individual student the tools into their hands. The art of knitting is such an important life skill and my hope is that students will continue knitting into their college life as a way to relieve stress and anxiety. My students will learn to appreciate the calm you get from knitting, which allows teens to learn to have a balanced life. Working hard academically, as well as knitting for enjoyment is essential to wellness. Knitting offers students another skill other than study skills, which will be attractive on college applications as students will stand out from the crowd. Having a well rounded education also teaches students that it is important to take other electives while in high school and college because you learn so much about yourself as you can interact with other people who may be different than yourself. Also, there are many community groups to join once you learn a new skill, such as a knitting club or quilting guild, etc.
