Students annotate, discuss chapters with partners and groups, share predictions, and connect the story to their own lives. Having enough books for every student made a huge difference because everyone could fully participate together.\r\n\r\nSome of my more reluctant readers especially loved this book. I had students who normally avoid reading ask to keep going or get excited to share their theories about the characters. One of my favorite things with our new books has been seeing a group of my usually reserved students suddenly light up when they learned that the biography they picked up was from a Latina artist that was from Latin America, just like them.
