Your donation allowed us to purchase supplies that brought science and art to life in ways that a textbook alone never could. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to give our students meaningful, engaging experiences that sparked both excitement and deeper understanding. One of the most impactful parts of our project involved using marbles and ramps to explore concepts of energy and energy transfer. These simple materials became powerful tools for learning. Students were able to see, feel, and experiment with how energy moves and changes, rather than just hearing about it. Concepts like potential energy and kinetic energy became real as students observed marbles speeding down ramps, slowing down, or colliding with other objects. Beyond the academic learning, this project fostered important life skills. Students worked collaboratively, communicated their ideas, and learned from both successes and failures. They built confidence as they saw their ideas come to life and realized that they could solve complex problems through persistence and creativity. They especially love experimenting with circuits in small groups created spinning art machines that draw colorful designs, while others built systems to launch ping pong balls or send paper airplanes flying. It was exciting to watch their problem-solving in action, like when they started with large paper airplanes and gradually redesigned them into smaller versions to improve distance and flight.\r\n\r\nMany groups incorporated lights, sounds, and even music into their creations, making each project unique and engaging. Over the course of three days, students worked collaboratively in pairs and small groups, sharing ideas, testing their designs, and making adjustments when things didn't work the first time. While the items may have seemed like a random assortment of supplies, each one was thoughtfully chosen to support my students and help make their education more meaningful, engaging, and impactful.\r\n\r\nOne of the things I value most about teaching at my school is the diversity of my students. They come from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, and it is incredibly important to me that they feel seen and represented in our classroom. For this reason, I requested the Colors of the World pens. We already have the matching crayons, and I have seen firsthand how meaningful it is for students to be able to choose materials that reflect their own skin tones. The addition of these pens will allow us to expand our art projects and continue fostering a sense of inclusion and belonging.\r\n\r\nThe whiteboards will also be put to great use. They are an essential tool during small group instruction, allowing for quick, interactive question-and-answer sessions that keep students engaged and give me immediate insight into their understanding. After more than ten years of use, my previous set was well-loved but no longer functional, so these new boards are greatly appreciated. They will also support partner work and provide students with more opportunities to practice and collaborate, especially in math.\r\n\r\nThe colored paper is another versatile resource that benefits our classroom in many ways. I often use it for important communications sent home to families so they are easy to notice, and it also enhances student projects, particularly in science and engineering activities.\r\n\r\nYour generosity directly supports my students' learning experiences and helps create a classroom environment where they feel engaged, supported, and valued.
