And in fact, students need the paper and pencil now more than ever; these are important resources for elementary school students. Right away, they started reading the first book in this series, and a few of them finished reading it in a couple of days because they couldn't wait to continue reading the other three. Additionally, the TeacherPayTeachers gift card allowed me to purchase activity books with many student activities for each book, and they used these for classroom work or for homework. \r\n\r\nThis project prompted students to check out more Magic Tree House books in our school library, so thanks a million for helping my students become more motivated and engaged with reading.","fullyFundedDate":1773903130400,"projectUrl":"project/books-books-and-more-books-in-march-pa/10149578/","projectTitle":"Books, Books, and More Books in March Part II!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gil","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1044342_orig.jpg?crop=1052,1052,x0,y143&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1564974156894","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/taftmath"},{"teacherId":10114819,"projectId":10001573,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous donation, our students now have new interactive tools that support reading, writing, and language development in both English and Spanish. These resources have quickly become part of our daily learning routine and have made learning more engaging and hands-on for my students.\r\n\r\nThe recordable buttons have been especially exciting for students. We use them to record and practice high-frequency words, and students love pressing the buttons to hear the words read aloud. This has helped build confidence in reading, especially for students who are still developing their reading skills. One special moment was watching students take turns recording their voices and then helping each other practice the words by listening and repeating them.\r\n\r\nThe Spanish word puzzles have been helping students practice spelling and writing Spanish words in a fun and interactive way. Students work together to build words and then write them, which has helped strengthen their vocabulary and writing skills. They are excited to use the puzzles during small group time and centers.\r\n\r\nThe magnetic letters are used during targeted small group instructions. Students use them to practice spelling sight words, build CVC words, and help them when they are writing sentences. These hands-on materials have made writing less intimidating and more accessible for many students.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were incredibly excited and immediately wanted to start using everything. They were engaged, curious, and eager to learn.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue using these materials during literacy centers, small group instruction, and writing time. We will continue practicing high-frequency words, building and writing Spanish vocabulary words, and using magnetic letters to support sentence writing and early reading skills.\r\n\r\nThank you for supporting our classroom and helping create engaging learning opportunities for my students. Students immediately grasped how to use and care for the boxes. They gently slide the boxes back into the storage box and help each other if one box gets misaligned. They are proud to get their boxes and choose a partner to work with. It's made working on sight words so much easier. It also helps with social skills - they have two chances a day to get out their sight word boxes and read with a partner, and they will happily do rock paper scissors to see whose box they use. Some students have an extra set of kindergarten words, or second grade words, and assigned partners who can help them or challenge them. \r\n\r\nWe use the red colored pencils twice a week for checking our own work after word building. Students can give themselves a smiley face if they're correct or fix it if they missed a spelling pattern.\r\n\r\nThe joy at opening up the box of colored pencils was incomparable, and probably contagious from my excitement. They're just so pretty! Each team shares a few sets of colored pencils. I'm never going back to markers in notebooks. No more bleeding through the page and rendering the back page unusable. \r\n\r\nThe foam dice replaced a well-used set. We use them for fact fluency and subitizing (recognizing quantities quickly). We also use them in other content areas for making choices (roll the dice, if we get a four, then we make a sentence with the fourth word, etc). \r\nAnd, at the end of the day, I get to sharpen a handful of colored pencils and regular pencils so that we are all fresh and ready for writing the next day.
