Thanks to these items, our math, no matter what we do has become hands on! We have been able to use these items daily to count, to add, to subtract. I believe that the addition of all of these materials has made students understanding of what 10 is stronger than any other class that I have had before. Students visualize 10 more easily and have internalized what 10 is. They are more fluent with math facts within 10 and also have a more solid understanding of adding and subtracting. Students also understand that a teen number is 10 plus 5 more, 10 plus 3 more, more easily than in past years. The students were thrilled to see all of these items and engagement in math grew significantly once they arrived! The impact of these items will forever be with these awesome kids!","fullyFundedDate":1756250714222,"projectUrl":"project/grow-math-brains-with-manipulatives-to-b/9462200/","projectTitle":"Grow Math Brains With Manipulatives to Build Understanding of 10!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Crowther","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp335653_orig.jpg?crop=2448,2448,x0,y408&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1659936861858","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/335653"},{"teacherId":335653,"projectId":9155922,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting this project! Students came back from their art with chalk literally up to their elbows!\r\n\r\nKids also loved using the outdoor paints and easel to create works of art while outside. Some students, in particular, really benefited from more of a calming activity while outdoors. These materials have added so much learning, joy, and spurred curiosity in our classroom. When discussing continents now, these places are more than just random names. These names and places mean something to students, you can see their minds carefully reference the location of Australia and where it is in the world, when discussing the climate and landscape of the Australian outback. This is so exciting for students to understand their world! One of the most exciting items that students were most excited about with this project is the Sun, Earth, Moon model! The students were THRILLED to see the Earth rotate around the Sun and fascinated by the relationship between these bodies in space. My class was eager to go home and share with their families what they learned and how the location of the Earth around the Sun leads to seasons and year. It gave students an understanding of time in a year and what months mean and this was an added bonus that I had not expected!\r\n\r\nThank you for making this project for this amazing group of kids,","fullyFundedDate":1739372691464,"projectUrl":"project/encourage-students-love-of-the-world-whi/9063338/","projectTitle":"Encourage Students Love of the World while learning about Geography!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Crowther","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp335653_orig.jpg?crop=2448,2448,x0,y408&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1659936861858","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/335653"},{"teacherId":7311450,"projectId":9078845,"letterContent":"It was such a magical moment when my students received the steps. As soon as the materials arrived, the students were anxious to use them and open them up! We had them out within 5 minutes and the kids were counting by 1s, 5s, 10s! The engagement level was so much higher and it made counting so much more hands on for each child. The whiteboards have been such an asset to students learning! The graphic organizer that is preprinted on the boards help students organize their thinking so that they can demonstrate understanding in a variety of ways. This tool is so valuable for building their understanding of related math facts that will give them a strong foundation that will last them throughout their elementary years! The 120 chart on the back of the boards has provided us with so many opportunities to play with numbers. We have been able to look for patterns, skip count, discuss tens and ones, add, and subtract.
