They are so excited to explore and use the new materials. These resources not only spark their creativity but also support their social and emotional growth by encouraging collaboration, self-expression, and confidence in the classroom. \r\n\r\nThey are also excited about the instruments. Music instruments provide students with a powerful outlet for self-expression and regulation. Playing an instrument gives children a healthy way to release emotions, whether they are feeling excited, frustrated, or calm. The rhythm and sound can help them shift their energy, soothe overwhelming feelings, and find focus. Instruments also encourage creativity and collaboration, as students can make music together, listen to each other, and build connections. By incorporating music into our wellness center we are giving students another tool to support their social and emotional well-being.\r\n\r\nI am so thankful for your generosity. A favorite of mine were the wordless picture books. These help my students build their language skills by coming up with the stories to match the pictures on their own! It helps with language skills such as describing, sequencing a story, and expansion of sentences.\r\n\r\nWe also received SPARK cards. These are great for having students sequence actions in order and then describe what's happening.\r\nThe speech room's new laminator is also a huge help. I've used it to create durable homework sheets for students to practice their speech and language skills at home. \r\n\r\nThe new play doh toys are used frequently by my preschoolers, creating a play based therapy setting while the markers create a play based therapy more appropriate for my slightly older students. \r\nWe also were lucky enough to recieve several social emotional based books like \"What Should Danny Do?\" This became an instant favorite with several of my students, and it takes quite a bit of convincing to do anything other than read those books in speech therapy now.\r\n\r\nThe speech room at our school also was blessed with other tools that are now \"go-to's\" for my therapy. This speech room was in need of new supplies, and I am so glad I was able to help get that started.","fullyFundedDate":1730733531607,"projectUrl":"project/sparking-students-speech-resources-for/8906992/","projectTitle":"Sparking Students' Speech: Resources for Speech and Language Therapy","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lacie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9818154"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_61604","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":375,"numTeachers":16,"percentFrplEligible":26,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":77,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":12,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 3","studentTeacherRatio":"23.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":91.4,"schoolId":61604,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Sierra Hills School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Sierra Hills School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/placer-hills-union-school-district/sierra-hills-school/61604"}
