One of the biggest challenges in a media classroom is keeping track of shared equipment, especially cameras and camera bags that are used daily by multiple students. With the AD5X, I was able to design and print durable, clearly labeled tags for each piece of equipment. These tags have created an organized, easy-to-follow system that helps students quickly identify, use, and return materials responsibly. As a result, we've reduced lost items, improved efficiency during class time, and built a stronger sense of accountability among students.\r\n\r\nBeyond organization, this 3D printer has also expanded what students can create. Using the AD5X, we've been able to design and produce custom props for student films and still life photography projects. Instead of relying on limited classroom supplies, students can now bring their ideas to life with unique, purpose-built objects that enhance storytelling and visual composition. We first learned about the degradation of metals and the difference between a copper producing a patina, green effect and an iron producing a rust effect. \r\nThe students then went through the process of creating an environment for the metal to rust with water, salt and vinegar and left the pieces to sit for a couple of days. Then they unwrapped their pieces (tote bags or kitchen towels per their choice.) The students removed the metal to reveal their prints. They came out great and the students liked the process and their new usable art piece. The students then ironed their pieces as the cotton was very wrinkled after the process.\r\nI was a bit worried they would not like the random and organic look of the prints, but they did. It is always fun to see them appreciate and like a new project.\r\nThank you so much for providing my students with this opportunity. Most of them are use to the elementary Prang watercolor paints. It was nice to be able to give them the opportunity to experiment and paint with higher end paints and natural paints. Thank you so much for making this experience possible.\r\n after painting some sample drawings to test and compare the different paints we discussed their favorites and why they liked them. Most agreed that the natural Beam paints were the smoothest to work with and had bright colors, but not a lot of color choices. The company makes more colors, but at the price I only purchased a sampler set of basic colors. I prefer to mix my colors anyway, but they prefer them already mixed. The overall favorite was the cake or pan traditional. Their reasoning was because it offered a wide arrange of color choices. The students did not like the natural earth one because it was difficult to mix the colors. \r\n In the end most of them chose the options of more color choices over the smoothness of the paints. After their choices of which paint they preferred we looked at pricing and ease of purchasing and using. The natural paints were a lot more expensive.
