The book introduced some powerful themes and skills, including critical thinking, making inferences, and exploring complex ideas like individuality and the importance of memory. It challenged my students to think beyond the surface and helped spark deep conversations about fairness, rules, and emotions. Many of my students who struggle to focus on some books were looking forward to our class discussions and were excited to watch the movie at home. They came in the next day, comparing and contrasting the book vs. the movie. It has been exciting to see my students' growth as readers and critical thinkers, and this experience wouldn't have been possible without your generous support. My students, the TK Cuties, have been working hard with their imaginations, planning skills, and building skills to create all kinds of fabulous scenarios with the Magnatiles the Lincoln like log toys.\r\n It is so fun to rotate the different Magna tiles. I was able to purchase Safari animals, jungle animals, a unicorn corral, farm animals, and a special builder set. We were also able to get a very amazing dinosaur collection! The students are so thrilled each week when I give them a different set to explore and build and play with.\r\n Unfortunately, actual Lincoln logs were out of stock. I'm sorry for the late response. We finished the book, and the students loved it! The mystery surrounding the holes, why they were digging, and the relationship to the characters was a great way for students to use their investigative and inferencing skills. As we worked through the book, students reflected on the characters and their motivations. We worked on our book studies as a whole group, and each student had a chance to read during this time. During this time, we had fun making the characters and their personality come to life, giving them different voices, and trying to make reading fun. At the end of the week, we would review what happened, ensuring the students know/ comprehend what they read. Thank you again for providing fun and education to our classroom. I appreciate it, and I know my students appreciate it as well.
