I've been teaching for over twenty years now, and I've seen firsthand how even the smallest things, like a new ruler or a sturdy compass, can make a world of difference for my students. Thanks to your support, every single child in my class was able to have their own set of tools for our geometry unit.\r\n\r\nSome of our rulers were cracked, and our compasses were missing screws or just didn't work right. Students would often get frustrated and give up because the tools were not serving the purpose well. It was heartbreaking to see their enthusiasm wane just because our supplies were lacking.\r\n\r\nWe created Pythagorean spirals which is a beautiful way to explore right triangles and the magic of the Pythagorean theorem. With their own tools, each student was able to draw, measure, and construct with confidence.\r\n\r\nBeyond just learning geometry, the kids learned to be patient, to pay attention to details, and to appreciate how math can create something truly beautiful. They worked together, shared ideas, and celebrated each other's successes. \r\n\r\nAnd the best part? These rulers and compasses aren't just for this year. They'll be used by class after class, helping even more students discover the joy of hands-on learning. We could immediately feel the difference once we started using them. We were able to string out bows quickly, which gave us more time to shoot. No more frustration felt when students were shooting due to the ground quivers blowing over. Students could easily reach their arrows to shoot. This resulted in quicker rounds and more shooting! Like I expected, these items made it so students could focus on their shooting and form, instead of fussing with the equipment. We are looking forward to using these items for years to come. We were able to get some extra laptops to have in class when students don't have one. Turn in rate for assignments that are online has doubled. It has made a huge difference because students are able to get started right away when we have these loaners in the classroom.
