They have already made such a difference in how students find and choose books. Instead of seeing only rows of spines, students (especially our TK, kindergarten, and first-grade readers) can now flip through books with the covers facing them. The bins make it much easier for young readers to browse independently, notice books that catch their attention, and feel successful choosing something they are excited to take home.\r\n\r\nThe students were thrilled when they saw the new setup! I have loved watching them gather around the bins, flip through the books, show interesting covers to their friends, and discover titles that might have gone unnoticed on traditional shelves. The bins have also given me new opportunities to organize parts of our collection around topics students love, making the library feel more inviting and accessible.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue reorganizing and improving our collection so that students can navigate the library as independently as possible. My goal is for every child, even our very youngest library users, to walk into the library feeling confident that they know how to explore, find something that interests them, and leave with a book they cannot wait to read. Your support has helped make that possible. Because of you, our students now have access to six Sphero BOLT robots and four Sphero Indi cars, giving them hands-on opportunities to explore coding, problem-solving, and computational thinking in a way that is joyful and meaningful. These tools help students move beyond screen-based learning by turning code into something they can see, test, and improve in real time.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most is seeing their ideas come to life. With Sphero, students write simple code and immediately watch a robot light up, move, or change direction based on their commands. Even our youngest learners, including first graders, are able to use color tiles and block-based coding to give instructions, make predictions, and debug when things don't go as planned. This process builds persistence, creativity, and confidence; skills that extend far beyond computer science.\r\n\r\nSome of the students who have especially thrived are those who don't always shine in traditional academic settings. Students who are hands-on learners, English learners, and students who struggle with written work have found success through coding with robots. Watching these students proudly explain their code to classmates and troubleshoot challenges collaboratively has been incredibly powerful.
