I teach 25 second graders at an urban public school in California. My students are from all over Oakland and come to our school community with a diverse set of family resources. Learning to read, write, do math, and get along with others is often a difficult and exciting challenge for my energetic students. Studies have shown that all students can benefit from learning similar concepts in multiple ways, and since some of my students are English Learners and autism-inclusion students, they especially need support through visual and kinesthetic modes of teaching. I want to provide this alternative education to my students so that they can more easily access second grade standards. I hope you can support our school by adding to our resources!
