Through these books I have been able to use student friendly examples to teach the main idea and the key lesson of a text. After teaching students these standards, we are able to get into small groups to practice our fluency and then tackle the standard with their favorite book.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite things to see students do during small groups is buddy reading. They enjoy having the same book in order to read together. They have also started their small clubs in order to read books with the same characters.\r\n\r\nMy students love for reading has greatly increased and I hope this continues throughout the school year. It has been nice to see them get excited to read both English and Spanish.
