Building self regulation skills is a fundamental part of the preschool experience. Through this process it is vital for the teacher to create an environment conducive to learning these skills and gaining this capacity. Preschool circle time is often the first time young children are asked to attend to a teacher in a large group setting. We use a variety of strategies to build all children's capacity to attend during this time. For this project I am hoping to receive two new tools to support students during this time. The first are "wobble cushions." These are for students to sit on while they are at circle time. They allow them to move their bodies while they sit, which help meets sensory needs and increases focus. The second tool is a set of 4 special chairs. Not all students are able to focus sitting on the carpet and these chairs will provide a safe and comfortable alternative. They can be used in 3 different ways to best meet the students' needs.
