The hands-on, colorful materials were very motivating, especially for my students with autism who benefit from visual and tactile learning.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to build on these foundational vowel sound skills by moving into blending and segmenting simple CVC words. We will continue using the tubs to support this by incorporating more structured word-building activities and beginning to connect sounds to reading simple sentences. For my nonverbal students, we will continue integrating AAC supports so they can actively participate in phonics instruction. The Coogam spelling games have sparked friendly competition and collaboration as students match letters and build words together. Next, we plan to combine the stacking and spelling activities into a multi-sensory project that strengthens fine motor skills, literacy, and cooperative learning.
