I set up thematic opportunities for students to explore, build skills, learn social skills, and have fun. With the tools you provided, I am able to set up 7 different centers. The first day I did this students would run from one center to another and yell at their friends, \"Did you see this? Come here and see...Oh, I love this...There are so many things I want to do...I'm coming earlier tomorrow so I can...\" These centers have built an excitement for learning. \r\n\r\nOne of my favorite and the student's favorite centers was the fall sensory table. In the sensory table, I used the fall sorting kit and sensory sorting tools you donated, along with fall leaves, mini tractors, dried mini corn cobs, dried corn, cotton, and acorns I already had. Students sorted things by colors and pretended to be farmers. However, my favorite part was the student's use of new vocabulary words. Many of the items in the sensory bin were new to students. They would come up and ask what something was called and then use the appropriate name while playing.\r\n\r\nAnother favorite center was the Elves Workshop. I spray-painted boxes red and green. Then with the golf tees and little plastic hammers you donated, students hammered the golf tees into the boxes. During this center, students laughed, used their imaginations, practiced fine motor skills, and learned to problem-solve together. \r\n\r\nThank you for helping me provide fun, meaningful, and developmentally appropriate opportunities for my students. Other items you donated will be used in future centers to continue to help students fall in love with learning.","fullyFundedDate":1727704699774,"projectUrl":"project/playing-to-learn/8830543/","projectTitle":"Playing to Learn","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Saba","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9780588"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_92281","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":290,"numTeachers":21,"percentFrplEligible":87,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":98,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"13.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":78.9,"schoolId":92281,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Pomona Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Pomona Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/newport-mesa-unified-school-district/pomona-elementary-school/92281"}
