I work in a Title I school where students are served free breakfast and lunch. Most of my students speak another language at home and come to school to learn English. They have limited access to good literature in their homes. Despite daily challenges my students come to school eager to learn and work hard to succeed. We strive to close the achievement gap at our school, and we are succeeding. Our school just received the coveted Gold Ribbon award! We have high expectations of our students, and they work hard to reach them. I want to create a class of lifelong learners where students are excited and motivated to come to school.
