In fourth grade, we are working on important reading skills such as making inferences, identifying main ideas and supporting details, using context clues, and discussing how characters respond to challenges. Having a wider variety of engaging books gives students more opportunities to practice these skills with texts they are genuinely interested in reading.\r\n\r\nReading is an important part of our classroom every day. Students have opportunities to choose books from our classroom library and read independently, and we also use books to build vocabulary, strengthen comprehension, and have conversations about different characters, cultures, experiences, and perspectives. The new books have helped make our library a place where more students can find something that feels interesting and accessible to them.\r\n\r\nOne of the best parts has been watching students get excited about choosing books for themselves. The dry erase markers allow every student to actively participate during math lessons by working problems on their whiteboards, showing their thinking, and making corrections without worrying about mistakes. The math manipulatives have been especially helpful for giving students a hands-on way to explore concepts that can sometimes feel abstract. Instead of simply watching me model a problem, students are able to build, move, draw, and problem-solve right along with me.\r\n\r\nMy students were very excited to see the new supplies and immediately wanted to use them. Thanks to your generosity, I now have many of the everyday tools that help our classroom run smoothly. We use these resources constantly, from sharpening pencils and preparing student materials to laminating resources that we can use again and again. My students quickly learned where everything belongs and how to use our classroom tools responsibly, and they were so excited each time another box arrived for Room 27!\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite things has been seeing how these supplies have become such a normal part of our classroom. My students probably don't think twice about having a working pencil sharpener or the materials they need ready for a lesson, but as their teacher, I know what a difference those things make. These tools allow me to spend more time teaching and less time trying to find, borrow, or work around supplies we don't have. They've also helped me create materials, activities, and resources that my students use throughout the school day.\r\n\r\nWe still have so much learning ahead of us in fourth grade. The kids have enjoyed them so much and we actually have enough for most of the class to join into play now! \r\n\r\nThey especially love the box that came with directions to build mini figurines, mini animals, and other objects. \r\n\r\nIt has helped with their skills in paying attention to detail, spacial awareness and following directions, along with their fine motor skills. They absolutely love it and it is the most desired station to work at!
