Students are putting the toys on their fingers and hands. They scoop the manipulatives with cups, bowls and scoopers. Students pour and manipulate the toys and love the glow of the toys. Since my light table has 4 different colors, I get to change it up daily. \r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the sensory toys they were very excited and were good about taking turns which can be tough for 4 year olds. The illuminated surface of the table and the translucent toys create a captivating environment. The toys have encouraged exploration. My TK students are getting the much needed fine motor practice. They are learning how to share, work together and overall helping with brain development. Some big gains from the new sensory toys are that it helped build hand strength, dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Students are working on problem solving and early learning skills with the new toys. Another goal is for my TK students to spark imaginative thinking and continue to support the much needed language development. \r\n\r\nThank you donors for helping make my TK classroom welcoming and engaging. We are a title 1 school, so toys like these are few and far between. We are using the light table daily since it provides many developmental benefits like promoting sensory exploration, enhancing fine motor skills through manipulation, fostering cognitive growth, problem solving, pattern recognition and supporting early STEM learning through the exploration of color, light and shapes. This light table has created a calm, soothing environment and has been a very valuable tool for my TK kiddos with sensory needs. \r\n\r\nThe illuminated surface of the table has provided a visually stimulating experience, helping my TK kiddos explore colors, textures and materials in a new way. My students need the practice manipulating small object, tracing and arranging items on the table. It really helps to strengthen hand muscles and improve hand-eye coordination. Sometimes I hear my students say that it's making their hands tired. I tell them that it's working! \r\n\r\nAnother important area that pertains to future projects is the STEM aspect of this table. My students can explore basic science principles and observe how light interacts with different objects, creating shadows and mixing colors. In fact, this will begin our color unit in TK.\r\n\r\nThank you donors for putting TK kids first. It is exciting to see that kids find learning fun. Without your generosity, this would be impossible.
