Many of them experience significant anxiety around tests, even with the coping strategies we practice together. These new tools have given them practical and immediate ways to manage stress and stay focused during challenging tasks.\r\n\r\nThe fidgets have been one of the most popular additions to my \"toolbox\". They are quiet, unobtrusive, and easy for students to use before or during a test to settle their thoughts and calm their nerves. Students enjoy choosing the one that works best for them or even connecting several together. The ability to self-regulate with these fidgets has helped them approach testing with a much steadier mindset. They are so happy with the fidgets that several students asked if they could take them home or if I could order more.\r\n\r\nThe Loop earplugs have also had a powerful impact. Background noise can easily overwhelm my students especially while testing and these earplugs help create a quiet, focused space right at their desk. Students share that they like how comfortable they feel and how they look like regular earbuds which helps them feel more confident using them in class. One student who previously had to leave the room to take tests in a quieter setting now feels comfortable testing in the classroom simply by using the earplugs.\r\n\r\nYour support has given my students tools that help them feel calmer, more in control, and more successful during stressful tests. We just completed our first project making a set of custom stickers. Our students were so excited watching their digital artwork come to life as real, tangible designs they could share with friends and the school community. Stickers went onto waterbottles, chromebooks, and clothing, and we started to find our creations all over the school.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has bridged the gap between the screen and the tactile world. Many students had never seen a cutting machine before, and their excitement was palpable. Gasps and cheers filled the room as the Cricut whirred to life, slicing precise shapes from their artwork..most of the time. They also saw that even machines aren't perfect all the time, which was an unexpected educational moment.\r\n\r\nBeyond the thrill, this project sparked deeper appreciation and reflection. Students quickly realized how much craftsmanship and patience go into producing even the simplest designs, giving them newfound respect for creative work they often take for granted. We are now updating our curriculum to integrate more hands-on design projects, empowering students to take ownership of materials and designs they create for our program.\r\n\r\nThis Cricut is already making an impact beyond our classroom. Your donation has made it possible for us to bring in the Saddleback Educational Publishing Tween Emergent Reader Libraries: GO! Emerge [1] and GO! Engage [2] sets, which are high-interest, low-level readers thoughtfully designed to connect directly and indirectly with STEM concepts. These materials are transformative for our students, many of whom face unique learning challenges that require accessible, engaging, and motivating reading materials. Your generosity ensures that every student has the opportunity to explore STEM topics in a format that meets them where they are while simultaneously fostering confidence, curiosity, and literacy growth.\r\n\r\nThe addition of these reader libraries has already begun to transform our classroom environment. Students who once struggled with motivation and engagement are now eagerly participating in lessons, exploring scientific concepts, and applying critical thinking skills in meaningful ways. The leveled, high-interest content not only addresses individual reading needs but also creates opportunities for collaborative learning, discussion, and hands-on STEM problem solving. Concepts such as engineering design, environmental science, and technology become more approachable and relatable through these books, and I am thrilled to witness the sense of accomplishment and excitement each student experiences when they complete a book or share a discovery with their peers. This project reinforces the idea that accessibility in STEM learning is not a luxury but a necessity, and your support has made this equity possible.\r\n\r\nBeyond the academic benefits, your donation has had a profound social and emotional impact. Many of our students face feelings of frustration and self-doubt related to traditional classroom learning, but the engaging content of these libraries allows them to experience success and build self-confidence. By providing books that are both relevant and approachable, you have helped cultivate a love of reading and a curiosity about STEM that will extend far beyond our classroom walls. It is inspiring to see students independently exploring STEM topics, asking thoughtful questions, and drawing connections to the world around them, all of which are made possible because of your support. In a self-contained classroom, where students often face challenges with decoding and comprehension, it can be difficult to find materials that are both accessible and academically rigorous. These books bridge that gap, providing engaging STEM content while fostering literacy skills. Your donation directly impacts my students' ability to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in ways that are meaningful, hands-on, and fun. With each story, experiment, and activity, they are developing not only literacy skills but also curiosity, problem-solving abilities, and confidence in their own learning.\r\n\r\nBefore your support, many of my students struggled to find reading materials that felt \"just right\" for them. However, the Hi-Lo books have given them a sense of empowerment and ownership over their learning. The stories are designed to spark curiosity, empathy, and discussion, while also weaving in real-world STEM connections that encourage exploration beyond the pages. My students are beginning to draw connections between what they read and what they see in science labs, engineering projects, and technology all around them. For example, one student who has struggled with reading comprehension shared that she was inspired by a story's message about teamwork and innovation to build her own small bridge using recycled materials during a science center activity. Another student who previously avoided independent reading now eagerly asks when we'll start our next book club session. These moments of enthusiasm and engagement are priceless, and they are happening because of your generosity.\r\n\r\nBeyond the academic benefits, these books are also cultivating empathy and understanding—skills that are just as essential as scientific literacy in today's interconnected world.
