Thanks to YOU, the Yoto Players that were funded through your generosity are helping to fill that gap by supporting many of the areas previously covered in the online curriculum.\r\n\r\nIn addition to the Yoto Players, my students now have a cozy, quiet, and clean area to learn together on our new rug, complete with headphones designed to fit their little heads and ears. The bright, plush rug is soft and inviting, quickly becoming a favorite spot in the classroom. Students are naturally drawn to it; you'll often find them reading, listening, playing, or simply relaxing there.\r\n\r\nWith your generous donations, I was also able to purchase a wide variety of Yoto cards, giving my students plenty of choices and variety to explore. Their favorite so far is the dinosaur pack, while mine is the design-your-own card, which allows me to record books and lessons just for them. The impact these tools have had on my students' ability to focus and engage with their work has been truly remarkable. For many of my first-grade students, maintaining attention during lessons can be a challenge. The addition of these sensory tools has provided them with a productive outlet for their energy, helping them stay focused and involved in the lesson without feeling overwhelmed.\r\n\r\nOne of the most noticeable benefits has been the improvement in their attention span. With the use of fidget tools like stress balls, textured cubes, or spinners, students have been able to channel their restlessness into an activity that helps them maintain focus. This simple act of fidgeting allows them to stay calm and engaged, improving their ability to absorb the material being taught. It has been amazing to watch them remain attentive and productive for longer periods of time, something that can be difficult for young learners, especially those with more active tendencies.\r\n\r\nMoreover, the hands-on learning tools have helped bridge the gap between physical activity and cognitive engagement. Fidgeting allows students to interact with the lesson in a tactile way, which can improve their sensory processing and enhance learning retention. With their hands busy, their minds are free to focus on the task at hand. This not only helps them remain on task but also provides an alternative way of learning that works well for those who struggle with traditional, more passive learning methods.\r\n\r\nFor students who often feel anxious or overwhelmed in the classroom, fidgets provide a sense of comfort and control. The ability to manage their own energy in a way that is both productive and calming has had a profound effect on their confidence. As a result, they are more willing to participate, contribute, and stay engaged in their learning. Many students have shared that having a fidget to use when they feel anxious or restless has helped them feel more relaxed, making it easier to focus on their work.\r\n\r\nAnother great benefit is that these tools have promoted self-regulation. Students are learning to recognize when they need to fidget in order to refocus, giving them a sense of autonomy over their learning process. This skill of self-management is not only valuable in the classroom but will serve them well as they progress in their academic careers and beyond.\r\n\r\nThe donation has also contributed to a more inclusive classroom environment. By providing fidget tools, every student, regardless of their learning style or needs, has the opportunity to succeed. It has created a space where all students can focus, stay engaged, and feel supported. This inclusivity has fostered a more harmonious and productive classroom atmosphere, where every child has the tools they need to thrive.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you for your generous donation. The fidgets and hands-on learning tools have made a world of difference in helping my students stay focused, engaged, and confident. Your support has directly contributed to their success and has created a more positive and effective learning environment for all of them. We are incredibly grateful for your kindness and generosity!","fullyFundedDate":1633294074570,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-learning/5870996/","projectTitle":"Hands-on Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kaitlyn","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7936117_orig.png?crop=785,786,x0,y13&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1724646825140","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/kaitlynlane"},{"teacherId":7936117,"projectId":5686854,"letterContent":"Having diverse materials in the classroom has greatly enriched my students' learning experience, helping them connect with various cultures, perspectives, and ideas.
