These resources have transformed everyday moments into opportunities for building strength, coordination, and confidence through play.\r\n\r\nInstead of relying solely on worksheets or tablets, students are now using their hands to explore, build, squeeze, connect, and create. These activities are directly supporting the foundational skills needed for writing, tool use, and independence across the school day. We are already seeing increased engagement, longer participation in tasks, and more willingness to try challenging activities.\r\n\r\nOne moment that stands out is a student who comes to OT sessions with limited verbal communication and typically demonstrates reduced engagement, visual attention, and joint attention. He has become especially drawn to the Fine Motor Forest Friends activity, where he places animal critters into a tree. During this activity, he is not only working on fine motor control and functional grasp, but also sustaining attention and engaging alongside the therapist in a way we had not previously seen. He uses his left hand to stabilize the tree while his right hand pushes the animals in, helping us target bilateral coordination and graded force. He is captivated by the colors and the variety of animals, especially the squirrels and foxes, and remains engaged for extended periods. It has been incredibly meaningful to see his level of participation and connection grow through this experience.\r\n\r\nAnother powerful moment involves a preschool student who is blind and partially deaf, and is attending a general education classroom for the first time. She is learning to explore her environment and initially presented with high tactile sensitivity and hesitation with new materials. Using the \"What's in the Box?\" activity, she is beginning to use both hands together in a coordinated way, explore objects through touch, and distinguish items using her available senses. During center time, she is also practicing turn-taking with peers, which is a big step toward classroom participation. These tools are helping us build her fine motor strength, engagement, and foundational skills that support her emerging braille literacy. Seeing her grow more confident and willing to interact with her environment has been incredibly exciting for our team.\r\n\r\nFor many of our students, especially those in historically underfunded classrooms, access to these types of materials is not guaranteed. Your support is helping to create more equitable learning opportunities by ensuring they have the tools they need to develop essential skills in a way that is meaningful and motivating.\r\n\r\nYour donation didn't just provide supplies. It created opportunities for growth, access, and connection for every student we serve. We are deeply grateful and hope you know the lasting impact you are making in these children's lives.","fullyFundedDate":1770439409224,"projectUrl":"project/little-hands-big-achievements/9819221/","projectTitle":"Little Hands, Big Achievements!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Stephanie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10299425_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1759637319272","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10299425"},{"teacherId":8557604,"projectId":9372964,"letterContent":"While these outdoor classroom resources have not yet been fully used, they have already brought so much excitement and anticipation into our classroom. Our district is still in the process of completing our outdoor classroom space, so the materials are being safely stored and lovingly prepared for the moment we can begin using them.\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the children were so curious and excited. They gathered around, pointed, asked questions, and shared big ideas about what they would do outside. We talked about playing, building, digging, climbing, and creating together in our outdoor space. It was a joyful moment full of imagination and wonder as they pictured their future outdoor classroom.\r\n\r\nOnce our space is ready, the children will begin using these resources during outdoor play and learning time. They will explore, move their bodies, use their imaginations, and learn how to work together as they play side by side.\r\n\r\nWe are so excited to bring learning outdoors in playful, meaningful ways every day.","fullyFundedDate":1757519519150,"projectUrl":"project/outdoor-play-the-tk-way/9372964/","projectTitle":"Outdoor Play the TK Way","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Washington","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8557604_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1747886078831","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8557604"},{"teacherId":10299425,"projectId":9788410,"letterContent":"Thank you for your contribution towards the sensory table!\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our motor lab at Evans Ranch Elementary School has come to life in such a meaningful way.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, we were able to create a spring-themed sensory table filled with split green peas, child-sized gardening tools, and bright flower inserts. What may look like simple play has quickly become one of the most engaging and purposeful learning stations in our room.\r\n\r\nOur students, who receive special education services, are now actively scooping, pouring, and exploring through hands-on, multi-step \"planting\" activities. They are practicing important skills like following directions, sequencing, fine motor coordination, bilateral coordination, tool use, and sustaining attention. Just as importantly, they are experiencing joy, curiosity, and a sense of independence while they learn.\r\n\r\nOne moment that truly stood out was watching our OT students fully immerse themselves in the sensory experience. Many of them are loving the touch, feel, and sound of the materials. Because of the size of the bin, they are able to dig their arms into the dried peas all the way up to their elbows, grasping fistfuls and slowly letting them fall through their fingertips which make a soft rainlike sound. In those moments, we are seeing a level of shared engagement with the treating therapists that we have not seen before. Students are more connected, more regulated, and more open to interaction and learning.\r\n\r\nFor many of our students, access to this type of sensory-rich, structured play makes a real difference in how they engage with their environment. It supports regulation, encourages participation, and opens the door for meaningful learning opportunities that might not otherwise be accessible.\r\n\r\nYour donation didn't just provide materials, it created an opportunity for connection, growth, and success in our classroom.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this possible and for investing in our students.","fullyFundedDate":1769177651562,"projectUrl":"project/scoop-pour-play-regulate/9788410/","projectTitle":"Scoop, Pour, Play, Regulate!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Stephanie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10299425_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1759637319272","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10299425"},{"teacherId":4337623,"projectId":9138910,"letterContent":"Thank you all for your support.
