Your contribution of glue sticks, scissors, bright cardstock and tape has directly enhanced our ability to engage students in meaningful, hands-on learning.\r\n\r\nInteractive math notebooks are more than just a classroom tool—they empower students to take ownership of their learning. With your support, each of our students are now creating math journals filled with foldables, diagrams, notes, and problem-solving strategies that help them better understand and retain mathematical concepts.\r\n\r\nThese notebooks have transformed how students connect with math. Visual learners benefit from color-coded sections, kinesthetic learners thrive through cutting and assembling materials, and all students gain from having a clear, organized reference they can revisit throughout the year. I love teaching about cell biology. Cell Biology is such an abstract subject, namely the cell organelles are microscopic. I teach the use of the microscope and students prep both animal and plant cell slides. This school year I wanted my students to create a physical cell model. To design and build a cell model that supports the standards of NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards). My students were excited to use the Magic Modeling clay to build their own cell models to keep and take home. We first created the key for the cell model the day before, then the day of, students were assigned lab stations and they were provided the Magic Modeling clay. The grant allowed me to buy the mixed box of 4 colors and a few other colors. Students could mix their colors very easily, and the clay did not crumble or dry out with use; it was easy for studnet to use. Many students growing up NEVER play with clay, Play-Doh, etc. so this project allowed students to do this. The Magic Modeling clay is more expensive than other types of clay, but it is very forgiving with use and it is perfect for all students to use. It will stay soft as it is used until we are ready to let it dry. It dries within 24 hours.\r\nI was very appreciative of the glue donated. I use science notebooks (composition books) for all students. We have many pages we glue into the science notebooks. Students run out of glue all of the time. I need to keep up a constant supply. My classroom budget runs out every year and every year I spend my own money, so this donation was greatly appreciated. Your generous donation supports students' learning in class.\r\nUsing the black outline pens is an added fun support I like students to use the black pens in their notebooks for special assignments and for our projects. Students used these black outline pens for the Cell Project key.","fullyFundedDate":1730412140088,"projectUrl":"project/science-essentials-sparking-curiosity-i/8692977/","projectTitle":"Science Essentials: Sparking Curiosity in 6th Graders","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Leach","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp508482_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x0,y94&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1733175101156","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/508482"},{"teacherId":6115479,"projectId":8483360,"letterContent":"On the first day of school, students were excited to see whiteboards covering the classroom walls and they kept asking about when they would get a chance to use them. With your donation, all students in classes of 30+ students are able to access a vertical whiteboard in groups of 3 or less. Innovative and interesting math tasks were purchased from TeachersPayTeachers with the use of the Donors Choose gift card and the problem-solving began the first week and continued until the end of the first semester.\r\n\r\nOn days where students came in with especially low energy (usually Tuesdays & Thursdays), getting students out of their seats to solve problems at the whiteboards was a game changer. Even when students grumbled a little at first, they were quick to change gears to collaborate and tackle grade-level work. And at the end of the class period, all students were trying exit ticket problems without hesitation or work avoidance. This would not be possible without the supplies gained from the Donors Choose project you supported.\r\n\r\nThe switch to a Building Thinking Classroom dynamic with the help from donors like you brings joy to my work and the experiences of all my students.
