As an education specialist, I’m always looking for safe, engaging, and flexible solutions to offer my students. There are so many ways for them to express their knowledge, share their ideas, and explore their questions, but there are not always opportunities for them to feel comfortable enough to go for it! Our classroom has standard issue tables and chairs and a linoleum floor, but there is no soft, calming, and restorative area for my students to access when they need to reestablish their personal space and refocus their energies in order to get back to learning and creating. Being able to gather around comfortably for community building activities, readings, and discussions, surrounded by colorful student work printed out from our new (and only) printer, would show my students the encouragement and support they need to thrive, in the classroom and beyond.
