These resources have become an important part of both classroom learning and individual support sessions, helping students build skills that extend far beyond academics.\r\n\r\nThese texts are introducing and reinforcing a range of social-emotional learning skills in accessible and developmentally appropriate ways. Through shared reading and guided discussion, students are learning how to identify and name emotions, recognize emotional triggers, and explore healthy coping strategies. The stories also support perspective-taking, helping students understand how different people may experience the same situation in different ways. Themes of resilience, empathy, friendship, problem-solving, and self-regulation are woven throughout the texts, giving students language and structure to better understand their inner world and their relationships with peers.\r\n\r\nIn individual sessions, these journals are especially powerful tools. They are used intentionally to support reflection, build self-awareness, and strengthen self-confidence. Some students benefit from the opportunity to revisit experiences at their own pace, without pressure to respond immediately in group settings. Journals allow them to slow down, make sense of their emotions, and communicate in a way that feels manageable and safe. Over time, this process helps students recognize patterns in their feelings and behavior, which supports both insight and growth.\r\n\r\n\r\nWe are deeply grateful for your generosity and for the lasting impact it continues to have on our students every day.","fullyFundedDate":1769127897537,"projectUrl":"project/supporting-emotional-recovery-with-sel-b/10046238/","projectTitle":"Supporting Emotional Recovery With SEL Books & Journals","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Natarajan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1391676_orig.jpg?crop=2409,2409,x0,y322&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1768431845380","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1391676"},{"teacherId":1391676,"projectId":10046886,"letterContent":"Because of your generosity, our students now have comforting tools that help them feel calm, safe, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nStudents regularly use the weighted animals to help regulate their emotions and find a sense of comfort during the school day.
