The new books have opened doors for my students at all reading levels. This project is making a positive impact on my students' learning. With the addition of new books and seating, students are genuinely engaging in reading. \r\n\r\nBecause of the materials provided, I've been able to introduce more student choice into our classroom. They now have the opportunity to explore a variety of titles and the autonomy to select a book of their choice. I look forward to discussing the diverse texts with my students and witnessing their growth and increased confidence in their skills.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you for supporting the students that I serve. The calming corner quickly became a safe and welcoming space where students can take a moment to breathe, regulate, and return to learning ready to focus. The soft seating, sensory tools, and visual supports have been a game changer, students who once struggled to rejoin lessons after feeling overwhelmed now have a place where they can reset in just a few minutes.\r\n\r\nThe reward collection has also transformed our classroom's token system. Having a variety of exciting, tangible rewards has made my students even more motivated to work toward their goals. I'll never forget one student's smile when they proudly traded in their tokens for a prize they had been saving up for—it was such a joyful moment that reminded all of us how powerful positive reinforcement can be.\r\n\r\nWith these resources, my students are not only learning academic content but also building the emotional regulation, goal-setting, and self-advocacy skills they'll use for the rest of their lives. We are currently working on a unit that blends these skills with daily life practice, and I know the calming corner and reward collection will continue to play an important role in that process. Your generosity has truly made our classroom a more supportive, encouraging, and joyful place to learn—thank you for believing in my students and helping them thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1723335412345,"projectUrl":"project/special-education-classroom-calming-corn/8599422/","projectTitle":"Special Education Classroom Calming Corner and Reward Collection!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Wen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9638076_orig.jpg?crop=618,618,x0,y156&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723142462394","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9638076"},{"teacherId":9811717,"projectId":8895095,"letterContent":"Every day, I utilize music in my classes to get more students involved. Playing music that is acceptable and sensitive to cultural differences guarantees a safe, healthy learning environment for all of my students. The speaker that was donating to me, has allowed me to play music in my class. Playing music has made me be more culturally responsive, compassionate, and open to all cultures and embrace diversity. Southern California is a cultural melting pot from all over the world! As a result, I have a diverse classroom, and it's essential for me to consider the cultures and backgrounds of my students. Being culturally responsive takes time and effort to develop; however, teachers who educate themselves and learn about various cultures will be better prepared to teach their students. \r\n I have implemented unit plans to focus on different cultural dances, music, sports, or culturally appropriate activities to embrace diversity. I have learned that I must be aware that in certain cultures, priorities and expectations are different. Certain cultures do not consider physical education a priority. I have learned to educate my students' families on the importance of physical education. Physical education has positive effects on the body; it boosts self-esteem and promotes psychological well-being. The goal is to create a positive educational atmosphere that makes lifetime learners and implementing MUSIC have made me reach these goals. I can personally testify the power music has on the individual, physical education with music can reach the whole individual; impact their mind, body, and soul.
