Your generosity has made a meaningful difference in our classroom and has given our students access to the everyday materials they need to learn, create, and grow with confidence.\r\n\r\nOur students are using the new crayons, pencils, scissors, glue, dry-erase markers, paper, and other supplies throughout the school day. These materials allow us to make learning more hands-on and engaging. For example, during our literacy and writing activities, students use their crayons, pencils, and paper to practice forming letters, drawing pictures, and sharing their ideas. During math activities, our number pocket chart and dry-erase materials give students opportunities to practice counting, recognizing numbers, and demonstrating their thinking.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw all of the new supplies, they were excited to explore them and eager to get started! For kindergarteners, having their own classroom materials makes them feel like real students and helps build a sense of pride and belonging. Something as simple as choosing a crayon or opening a new box of supplies can turn into a special moment of excitement and motivation to learn.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue building students' independence and confidence as they strengthen their early literacy, writing, and math skills. We will continue using these materials for hands-on lessons, creative projects, and small-group activities that allow every child to participate and practice at their own pace.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, our students have a classroom filled with the tools they need to take their first steps toward becoming confident learners. The nonfiction books also introduced students to new topics while helping them practice using pictures, headings, and text features to learn information.\r\n\r\nThis school year, I am teaching third grade, and reading has continued to be a big part of our classroom. My students are always asking to use our classroom library, whether they have a few extra minutes or want to find a book to read during independent reading time. I love seeing them browse the shelves, recommend books to each other, and get excited when they find something that interests them.\r\n\r\nMy students especially love \"Elephant & Piggie\" because of the humor, illustrations, and relatable characters. They also enjoy our nonfiction books because they can explore topics they are curious about and learn new facts. Having a variety of books available allows students with different interests and reading levels to find something they genuinely enjoy. With the watercolor paper, sharpies, crayons, colored pencils, and other materials, students have been able to bring their learning to life in meaningful ways. During our Bill of Rights unit, each student selected an amendment and created a detailed, colorful poster illustrating its importance. One standout moment was watching a student carefully use felt-tip pens and colored pencils to depict freedom of speech through a powerful visual scene—something that would not have been possible without these high-quality supplies.\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate and contagious. Many of them had never used such a wide variety of art tools before, especially items like the amount of color pencils and the crayon sharpener. There were huge smiles and a rush of creative energy as they eagerly organized their new supplies into their art boxes. That enthusiasm carried directly into their work, as they took greater pride in their projects and spent more time refining details. Recreating Van Gogh's Sunflowers became not just an art lesson, but an experience where students felt like real artists experimenting with color and technique.\r\nAs we move forward, students are now applying these same tools to our science project, where they are designing prosthetics for animals. Their next step is to finalize detailed drawings, complete with labeled parts and explanations of function, before constructing their models. The ability to sketch, revise, and add precise details using these materials is helping them think more critically about both science and design. Your support is not only enhancing their creativity but also deepening their understanding across subjects, and we are so excited to see how their final prosthetic projects come to life.","fullyFundedDate":1765922564698,"projectUrl":"project/coloring-our-learning/9911397/","projectTitle":"Coloring Our Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Quintanilla","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9411704_orig.png?crop=641,641,x363,y266&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1784924889733","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-quintanilla-26"},{"teacherId":5926870,"projectId":9868608,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your very generous donations!
